How to buy phone number in Hungary? Local operators in Hungary

Hello to all those who are going to travel a bit and visit a wonderful country – Hungary. This article focuses on the tariff plans offered in this country. We included the short and main information about tarrifs. We hope if will help you and you'll like it.

As in any other country, an abundance of statements and sentences is fairly large, so let us discuss each operator in more detail. The mobile operators of Hungary have different tariffs for calls and texting providing the minimum amounts of data; only for exchange of data with the provision of sufficiently large volumes.

So, in Hungary there are three mobile operators:

  1. Magyar Telekom (formerly T-Mobile);
  2. Telenor;
  3. Vodafone.
The speed of data transmission, as in most European countries, 2G is transmitted at a frequency of 900 and 1800 MHz, 3G on 2100 MHz frequency. Absolutely all mobile operators of Hungary in 2015 offer high-speed Internet 4G/LTE.

All operators of Hungary offer to purchase SIM cards in their retail stores, which also will tell you will tell you and advise on the services provided. To buy a SIM card you must provide identification with a photo. On the basis of this identity, the SIM card is registered.

By the beginning of 2016 it is planned to increase the coverage of the territory of Hungary to 98% (4G).


Prepaid tariffs for mobile communications Magyar Telekom called Domino (Domino), the SIM card can be purchased in their own shops, Magyar Telekom, called "T-Point", and also to order online delivery:

  • Domino Surf, the starter pack costs 2950 HUF in the stores or 1990 HUF if you order online, is 1900 HUF on the account. The monthly fee is 850 HUF and includes 150 megabytes of mobile data traffic;
  • Domino 5, the starter pack is 4050 HUF in the stores or 2790 HUF if you order online, 2700 HUF on the account;
  • Domino Quick start package costs from 600 to 1800 forints, with the same amount in the account. Domino Quick can be purchased at gas stations OMV and MOL, supermarkets, Media Markt, Tesco, and also in newsagents.

Tariffs Telenor
Telenor is a Norwegian company that previously Hungary's mobile services and the Internet provided under the brand name "Pannon". Telenor has the widest coverage of the country. Cellular 4G available on the frequency of 800 MHz and 1800 MHz. By the beginning of 2016, a 4G connection from Telenor will be available 95% of the territory of Hungary.


Prices for mobile Internet Telenor (per month):

  1. 50 megabytes of traffic – 599 HUF (in excess of the limit, 1 megabyte costs 33 Forint);
  2. 100 megabytes of traffic – 999 HUF;
  3. 500 MB of traffic – 1990;
  4. 1 Gigabyte of traffic – 2490 HUF;
  5. 2 gigabytes of traffic – 2990 HUF;
  6. unlimited mobile Internet – 5599 forints.
For tourists from other countries, Telenor, there are tariff plans Hipernet Praktikum exclusively for mobile Internet when the SIM card is inserted into a laptop, tablet or smartphone (no voice communication).

Basic Hipernet Praktikum costs 3990 HUF, 3000 HUF on the balance sheet. The tariff is valid for 180 days, fixed price debited for every megabyte is 5 HUF.

Mobile operator Vodafone

The smallest mobile operator in Hungary is a Telecom operator Vodafone, although the company represented in other European countries, often provides pretty good conditions when operating on the whole territory of the European Union, which demonstrates the optimality of its use for large rounds.

Three main tariffs for mobile communications and Internet from Vodafone in Hungary:
  1. "Max's". Monthly fee of 2,000 HUF includes 30 voice minutes or SMS messages in your home network. Mobile Internet is not available. Activation is performed by sending the message "TV MAX S" to the number 1270;
  2. "Max M". Monthly fee 3000 HUF includes 100 voice minutes or SMS messages in your home network, 100 MB of mobile Internet traffic. Activation is performed by sending the message "TV MAX M" to the number 1270;
  3. "Max L". A monthly fee of 4000 HUF includes 100 voice minutes or SMS messages in your home network, 1GB of mobile Internet traffic. Activation is performed by sending the message "TV MAX L" to the number 1270.
Also have Vodafone there are rate plans exclusively for the mobile Internet when the SIM card is inserted into a laptop, tablet or smartphone (no voice communication).

  • in the salons of mobile operator Vodafone (the staff mainly speaks Hungarian, but there are English-speaking staff (not all);
