Our experience on Hungary
As we are not living in Budapest, we can't tell you a lot about our experience on this city. We are living and studying in Sopron, so we would like to talk about this beautiful town and about things that we like most here.
Sopron - a small city located near the Austrian border, lying in the ring covered in coniferous forests of the Lővérek, good wines and famous vineyards.Therefore, it is very convenient to travel to Vienna (capital of Austria), because the journey by train or car takes just 1-1.5 hours.
Sopron is city with rich monuments of the Hungarian city, awarded in 1975 award “Europa Nostra”.The symbol of Sopron Fire tower, formerly used for the appointment of a fire guard, and now it is a Museum, kudf we love to go out with friends.
Near Sopron lies the national Park Fertő-Hanság, most of which lies on the territory of Austria. Here are situated the wonderful area of lake Fertő is the third largest lake in Central Europe. The surroundings of lake listed as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO. The lake is very salty and the beaches and the bathing area is a great resort area. Summer on the lake you can enjoy sailing, сycling along the path leading around the lake and winter skating.
In addition,we often witness colorful festivals and fairs –especially many of these activities take place in the summer, when it attracts a lot of tourists especially. E.g.: now in the center of the city there is the wine festival where there were a lot of tourists, and every day there are concerts of different rock, jazz, etc. groups.
Speaking of concerts, the most memorable event of the year is a music festival which takes place VOLT, that takes place in summer in June and July, which attracts celebrities, singers, DJs with their worldwide hits. This festival takes place in 2-3 weeks and in this period the city is full of people from around the world to end. Unfortunately, we have not been able to attend as we arrived in the fall closer to the beginning of the school year, but we have enough time to visit it in the future.
